Nurturing Growth Together
Taking that first step toward support isn’t easy—it takes real courage to admit that you're overwhelmed, anxious, or simply tired of holding it all together.
If you’ve found your way to Bird and Bear Counseling, thank you. Your willingness to explore support is an act of strength, not weakness.
Here, you’ll find a safe, welcoming space to be seen, heard, and supported—whether you're a parent stretched thin, a teen navigating big emotions, or an adult ready to unpack the weight of the past. We honor your story, your resilience, and your desire for meaningful change.
You don’t have to keep pushing through alone.
Together, let’s explore what healing looks like for you and take compassionate steps toward feeling more grounded, hopeful, and understood.
At Bird and Bear Counseling, everyone is welcome.
I offer individualized therapy in a supportive, nonjudgmental space—where your story is honored, your needs are heard, and your healing truly matters.
I work with teens, adults, and parents who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from trying to keep it all together. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, life transitions, relationship stress, or self-esteem issues, you don’t have to face it alone.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you.
I draw from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Strength-Based Techniques to help you understand your patterns, build healthier coping skills, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I believe healing begins when we make space to connect the past to the present. Through this process, we can raise awareness, shift old patterns, and begin creating a life that feels more peaceful and grounded.
If you're unsure whether your concern fits what I offer, please feel free to reach out—I'm happy to talk through your needs and see if we're a good fit.
Hi, I’m Danielle, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with nearly 15 years of experience supporting individuals through some of life’s most overwhelming and uncertain moments.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University and am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) for provisionally licensed clinicians.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with adults, teens, children, and families facing a wide range of mental health challenges—including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, and major life transitions. My clinical background includes individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis response and support around issues like housing instability, financial stress, relationship conflict, and emotional burnout. I’ve also served in leadership roles for over seven years, supervising teams in community mental health settings and working closely with those affected by chronic mental illness and homelessness.
But beyond credentials and clinical hours, what truly drives my work is a deep belief in the strength and resilience of people—even when they don’t feel it themselves. I understand that coming to therapy can be scary, vulnerable, and unfamiliar. I’ve been there too—in my own way. I approach every session with empathy, honesty, and respect for your lived experience. I also know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. I draw from a trauma-informed, motivational interviewing approach, blending in CBT techniques and strength-based strategies to create a personalized experience that meets you where you are.
My goal isn’t just to help you feel better—though that’s part of it. It’s to help you understand yourself more fully, connect the dots between your past and your present, and begin building tools that lead to real, lasting change. Together, we’ll work at your pace, exploring what’s been weighing you down and uncovering what might help you move forward with more peace, confidence, and clarity.
Therapy is a relationship, and it’s important to me that you feel safe, supported, and empowered in our work together. I’ll always check in about how you feel things are going. If it turns out I’m not the right fit, that’s okay—my priority is making sure you get the care you deserve, even if that means referring you to someone else.
It’s no small thing to open up to a stranger—and I don’t take that lightly. Thank you for being here and considering Bird and Bear Counseling. It’s truly an honor to walk alongside you in this season of your life.
When I began dreaming up my practice, I knew the name had to mean something. Something that reflected not just the work I do, but why I do it. Ultimately, that "why" is my children. Bird and Bear are the nicknames I gave them—and the heart behind this practice.
But the name carries deeper meaning, too. Birds symbolize freedom, transformation, and the courage to rise above. Bears embody strength, grounding, and resilience. Together, they represent the emotional work we do in therapy: the bravery to grow, and the strength to face what’s hard.
In many ways, my own healing has mirrored this process. I know what it’s like to face the messy, uncomfortable parts of yourself and still choose to show up with compassion. Therapy asks us to be both tender and brave—and that’s what Bird and Bear stands for.
I hope this is a place where you can explore, heal, and become more fully yourself—with strength, with softness, and in your own time.
Let’s face it, finding a clinical supervisor can be hard. Being able to be a support,
mentor, and teach future therapists is something near and dear to my heart. It would be a true honor to support you in that journey. Interested in learning more? Reach out and let’s chat!
Everyone struggles because life can get hard, and that’s okay! Therapy is about having unbiased support while you work through those difficult times of transition, newness, or change. Therapy provides you with tools allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.
Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. It is important to feel safe and trust that what you are discussing in therapy can stay there. If you want information shared with others, an informed consent document should be completed, otherwise, by law, your information cannot be released. There are a few situations where therapists may need to break that confidentiality. Those situations are as follows:
Yes, I currently accept United Healthcare (UHC), Aetna, Horizon BCBS, Optum, Oscar Health, Oxford and Cigna.
That’s ok too! My rates are:
I offer both; with the constant uncertainties of the world we live in, I strive to make our sessions most comfortable for you by offering both virtual and/or in-person sessions.
Virtual Sessions: The goal is to have virtual sessions mirror in-person sessions as much as possible. Please be in a stationary, safe, and relaxed place where you can focus on our sessions. I strongly recommend your camera stay on as well. All virtual platforms used are encrypted and HIPPA compliant for your safety.
In-person Sessions: While the majority of my sessions are virtual, I have an office in Metuchen NJ. If you prefer this option, we can discuss it during the consultation.
It is important that we take advantage of the full session time. This provides you with enough time to process and learn/practice new skills to encourage growth.
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay a cancellation fee (the full cost of the session without insurance).
For virtual sessions, I keep the portal open for 15 minutes from the start of the agreed upon session date/time and then close the portal if you do not log in.
For in-person sessions, I wait 15 minutes from the start of the agreed upon session date/time for you to arrive.
I will do my best to accommodate make up sessions if requested.
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, I urge you to call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If not, but you would like to meet sooner than your next scheduled appointment, please contact me and I will do my best to accommodate your request.
